Massage for Runners

Whether you’re training for an upcoming event, or are a casual runner, weekend warrior, or ultra runner, sports massage is one of the best ways to minimize the wear and tear from running, prevent and heal from injuries, and lengthen your stride.

I have developed a particular style of massage that focuses on typical problem areas and injuries common in runners: ITB Syndrome; Runner’s Knee; Plantar Fasciitis; Achilles Tendonitis; Patellar Tendonitis; Shin Splints; cramping and muscle spasms; as well as the usual tight calves, hamstrings, gluteals, low back, hip flexors, quadriceps, feet, and more. Using a blend of Deep Tissue, Trigger Point, Active Release, Myofascial Release, stretching, and Kinesiology Taping, we can prevent and/or treat all of these conditions and more.

Sports massage can be used in 3 different phases of training:

  1. During your regular running routine or between events, I do what I call The Runner’s Tune-Up. This is when we can not only lengthen and loosen tight muscles, we can work deep into problem areas and get to the root cause of your pain, as well as identify possible future problem areas to focus on in massage and self-care.

  2. Pre-event massage occurs within 1-2 days before an event. This is a time to lengthen, relax, and prepare muscles for the race.

  3. Post-event massage occurs ideally within 1-2 days after an event. This is when we soothe the muscles, flush out all the build-up of lactic acid and metabolic waste, and attend to any extra sore areas or injuries.

Package A $225: 4 massages includes 2 Runner’s Tune-up sessions, 1 pre-event massage, and 1 post-event massage.

Package B $340: 6 massages includes 4 Runner’s Tune-up sessions, 1 pre-event massage, and 1 post-event massage.
